Hyderabad: India Game Developer conference kicks off at HICC

Hyderabad: Gaming experts from across the world converged at HICC as the three-day India Game Developer Conference (IGDC) an initiative of Game Developer Association of India kicked off here on Wednesday.

In its 16th annual avatar, the event saw over 6000 attendees on the first day. The expo commenced with over 100 global and local gaming developers and publishers, showcasing visitors an immersive and interactive entertainment.


Addressing the media persons, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Secretary, Sanjay Jaju emphasised that video gaming industry was essentially lead by content and creativity and the ministry would work with Game Developer Association of India (GDAI) to create high quality talent at scale in the country so that India can dominate global gaming space.

The event saw panel discussions on different topics, including Level Up Game Development Using Generative AI; Powering Global Gaming: Strategic Investments and Market Dominance; Web Games: The Game Changer Revolutionizing the Gaming Landscape and India Gaming Market Status Quo.

Meanwhile, to unify, promote, and elevate India’s growing video gaming and interactive entertainment industry, the GDAI was also officially launched. The GDAI seeks to provide a cohesive platform for industry growth, policy advocacy, and strategic collaborations with various ministries to position India as a global leader in the gaming sector, said Sridhar Muppidi, chairperson GDAI.
