Hyderabad: The 60-year old, Mantri Shankar, who is allegedly involved in more than 250 burglary cases and has been convicted 209 times by the courts, was arrested along with three of his associates by the Hyderabad City Police on Friday. The police recovered property worth Rs 12.09 lakh and two 2-wheelers from him.

Hyderabad Police Commissioner, Anjani Kumar, said Mantri Shankar along with his associates Abdul Latif Khan (27), Mohd Majeed (23) and Mohd Imtiyaz (21) was involved in six cases registered in different police stations in Hyderabad and Rachakonda.

“Mantri Shankar was detained under PD Act four times, but he still continues with his activities. After coming out of prison 20 days ago, he committed six offences in Begumpet, Nallakunta, Kushaiguda and Vanasthalipuram police station limits,” he said.

The man moved around in colonies during the day time and identified locked houses. “In night, the gang would remove the iron grills of the window or break the lock using the tools they carried and entered inside the house. Once inside, the gang members would break open the almirah and take away cash and costly items,” the official added.
