Hyderabad: Inter-state drug smuggling racket busted
According to the police, the duo with a plan to earn easy money, procured hashish oil from drug dealers in Andhra Pradesh and smuggled it to Hyderabad
Hyderabad: In a joint operation, the sleuths of the Special Operations Team (SOT) Malkajgiri along with the Bhongir Rural Police busted an interstate drug peddling racket and arrested two drug peddlers on Friday.
Officials seized hashish oil worth Rs 80 lakh from them.
The arrested persons are P Shekhar and A Reddy Durga Rao, both from Narsipatnam of Anakapalli district in Andhra Pradesh.
According to the police, the duo with a plan to earn easy money, procured hashish oil from drug dealers in Andhra Pradesh and smuggled it to Hyderabad. They sold the contraband substance for a higher rate to consumers, mostly youngsters.
“Approximately 40 to 50 kgs of marijuana is used in making 1 kgs of hashish oil. Hence, it is believed that for 4 kgs, as many as 200 kgs of dry marijuana may have been used,” said a police official.
Efforts are in progress to nab the absconding suspects.
