Hyderabad: In a joint operation, the Government Railway Police (GRP), Secunderabad, along with the EAGLE team of TGANB and the Railway Protection Force (RPF), busted an interstate drug smuggling racket at Secunderabad Railway Station on Monday.

Two drug peddlers identified as Dipak Sahu and Deepak Gouda, both natives of Ganjam district in Odisha, were nabbed while allegedly transporting contraband from Berhampur to Delhi via Secunderabad.

Police seized 10 kgs of marijuana worth Rs 5.04 lakh and two mobile phones from them.

According to the officials, the duo had procured marijuana from forest areas in Gajapati district for Rs 35,000 and planned to sell it in Delhi at a higher price.

During routine checks at the railway station, officials caught the duo in the waiting hall and recovered the contraband from their backpacks.

Police are investigating to identify the supplier and possible links to a larger network.
