Hyderabad: The Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) foiled an interstate drug smuggling attempt and arrested a Mumbai-based peddler at Secunderabad railway station on Wednesday. Officials seized marijuana worth Rs 8 lakh.
The suspect, Asiruddin Takriddin Khan alias Chotu (35) from Mumbai, was caught during a surprise check while traveling on the Konark Express from Bhubaneswar to Mumbai. Police recovered the contraband concealed in a trolley suitcase.
It was found that Khan, who was earlier involved in criminal cases, learned about drug peddling when in jail. After release, he purchased the consignment for about Rs 1.13 lakh and attempted to transport it to Mumbai for resale when he was nabbed.
