Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau on Saturday night arrested Bhookya Hari Ram, Engineer in Chief, Irrigation and CAD Department, after a case of disproportionate assets to known sources of income was registered against him.

The ACB teams on Saturday conducted searches at 14 places including the house of Hari Ram and his relatives. During the searches, the ACB found documents pertaining to a villa at Shaikpet, villa at Kondapur, flats at Srinagar colony, Madhapur, and Narsingi, commercial space at Amaravathi, 28 acres agriculture land at Markook mandal, 20 guntas in Patancheruvu, two independent houses at Srinagar colony, a farm house on six acres at Bommalaramaram, a building under construction at Kothagudem, open plot at Quthbullapur, Miryalaguda, and two cars including BMW, gold ornaments and bank deposits.

“The searches revealed that the accused officer has acquired these movable and immovable properties by abusing his official position,” said the ACB.

The market value of the property is expected to be much higher than the official value. The officer was arrested and produced before the court. Further investigation is going on.

Till late night, the ACB was continuing the searches.
