Hyderabad: Jammi Chettu plantation at Keesara

Hyderabad: Rajya Sabha MP and Green India Challenge founder J Santosh Kumar along with Labour Minister Ch. Malla Reddy planted a Jammi Chettu (Prosopis Cineraria) at Ramalingeshwara Swamy temple in Keesara here on Tuesday.
GIC founder has launched a special initiative of planting Jammi Chettu saplings under Uriko Jammi Chettu – Gudiko Jammi Chettu programme.
Jammi Chettu is also the State Tree of Telangana.
Addressing on the occasion, Labour Minister Ch Malla Reddy said the Jammi Chettu plantation drive launched by MP J Santosh Kumar was a novel initiative of increasing green cover. He also said planting the Jammi Chettu was significant as many people worship the tree for its medicinal values and as part of their tradition.
MP J Santosh Kumar appealed to all the people in the State to plant one sapling of Jammi Chettu along with their family members during the ongoing Dasara festivities.
