Hyderabad: Jeedimetla police arrest mobile snatching gang, recover phones
The Jeedimetla police arrested a gang involved in multiple phone snatching cases across Hyderabad and Cyberabad. The gang targeted lone walkers, especially women. Police recovered 9 phones and two bikes. The arrests followed CCTV and technical surveillance

Hyderabad: The Jeedimetla police have arrested a gang responsible for a series of mobile phone snatching and theft incidents, and recovered two bikes and 9 mobile phones from them on Wednesday.
The arrested persons were identified as R Vaijayanth alias Varun (19), R Shiva (21), R Naresh Nayak alias Naresh (23), Kumar and Venkat, residents of Kukatpally and Jagadgirigutta.
Police said the gang members, who were addicted to alcohol and drugs, assembled in open areas before going on their crime spree. They targeted individuals walking alone, especially women using mobile phones, in areas such as Kukatpally, Jeedimetla, Madhapur, JNTU, Prasanth Nagar and Moosapet. They were recently involved in a phone snatching at Shapurnagar.
Based on a complaint, the Jeedimetla police booked a case. After analysing CCTV footage, using technical surveillance and checking suspect databases, the gang was identified and caught. Police said the suspects were involved in several theft cases across Cyberabad and Hyderabad.
