Hyderabad kidnap case: 15 more suspects arrested
City Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar said two persons who wore khakee uniform and posing as cops threatened the victims Praveen Kumar, Sunil Kumar and Naveen Kumar were also held.
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Police have arrested 15 more suspects including an event manager who arranged men for the execution of the sensational Bowenpally kidnap, here on Sunday. The arrested include M Siddhartha, an event manager, who arranged 20 persons to pose as Income Tax officials and execute the kidnap of Pravin Rao and his two brothers on January 6.
City Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar said that Akhila Priya, the prime suspect in the case along with her husband M Bhargav Ram Naidu, conspired with her brother Jagath Vikhyath Reddy and her follower Guntur Srinu. “They conducted meetings at her residence in Lodha Apartments in KPHB and a school in Yousufguda on executing the kidnap plan in the first week of January,” he said.
Guntur Srinu then contacted Siddhartha and sought young men to execute their plan with a promise to pay Rs 5 lakh to him and Rs 25,000 to each person. Accommodation was also arranged for them in a lodge at Kukatpally and measurements were taken for clothes. Bhargav Ram, through Mallikarjun Reddy and Sampath, got 10 stamp papers while Srinu along with Sampath and Mallikarjun Reddy bought six basic mobile phones and procured toy pistol, rope and plasters used in the offence, the police said.
“On January 5 evening, all suspects assembled at a school in Yousufguda, where they were briefed by Bhargav Ram about the execution of their plan posing as cops and IT officials,” Anjani Kumar said adding that a reccee of the victims’ house in Manovikas Nagar was also done.
As per the plan, the suspects went in five cars to the victim’s house and kidnapped by blindfolding them and took them in three different cars to Bhargav Ram’s guesthouse in Moinabad where they were forced to sign promissory bonds. “Knowing that the police were searching for them, the gang then abandoned the victims near Sun City along ORR and went absconding,” the Commissioner said.
The police seized five cars including one driven by Bhargav Ram and Vikyath Reddy and registered in the name of Bhargav Ram’s mother. The suspects will be produced before the court for remanding in judicial custody, police said. On the other hand, teams deployed to nab Bhargav Ram, Srinivas Choudhary alias Guntur Srinu and others in Hyderabad and Allagadda and other places in Andhra Pradesh were still on the job.
