Hyderabad: Kidney donors, kin, senior kidney recipients felicitated by Yashoda Hospitals

The event celebrated the strength of kidney transplant patients, the commitment of dialysis technicians, and the selflessness of kidney donors

Hyderabad: Kidney donors, their family members and senior kidney recipients were felicitated in a special programme ‘Celebrating Second Chances – Life with Kidney Transplant Patients’, organised by Yashoda Hospitals, Hitech City on Sunday.

A total of 285 participants including 10 senior kidney recipients for their resilience and long-term success, 80 kidney donors for their life-saving generosity, transplant surgeons, dialysis patients, care givers and family members were present in the event, which was organised with the support of Cheyutha Foundation for Organ Transplants, Care for Your Kidney Foundation, and Kidney Warriors Foundation.

In the backdrop of growing burden of kidney diseases, Dr Rajashekara Chakravarthy, Clinical Director and Head, Nephrology and Transplant Services, emphasised early detection, prevention strategies, and careful monitoring to prevent progression from acute kidney injury to chronic kidney disease.
