Hyderabad: Due to a low pressure area over the southeast and adjoining Bay of Bengal, Hyderabad is likely to witness light to moderate rainfall over the weekend. On Thursday, many localities of the city, including Lakdi-ka-Pul, Khairatabad, Banjara Hills and Secunderabad, witnessed light drizzle. Marredpally received the highest rainfall of 3 mm. The temperature in the city also dipped due to the thick cloud cover. The highest temperature recorded on Thursday was 27.9 degree Celsius.

The India Meteorological Department, Hyderabad (IMD-H) has issued a Yellow alert for Hyderabad, for Friday. “Although there is a Yellow alert, we are expecting that a few parts of the city are likely to receive light to very light drizzle only. There may be a few bouts of moderate rainfalls at isolated places. However, the city will continue to experience thick cloud cover for the next couple of days,” IMD officials said.

According to data recorded at various Automatic Weather Stations (AWS) by Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS), most parts of the city might receive rainfall up to 2.5 mm on Thursday. However, a few parts including LB Nagar and Hayathnagar might receive up to 15.6 mm rainfall on Friday. The forecast includes light to moderate rainfall between 2.5 mm to 15.6 mm in most parts of the city on Saturday. The maximum temperature in the city is likely to be between 30 degree Celsius to 32 degree Celsius; whereas the minimum temperature will be in the range of 21 to 23 degree Celsius.

Light showers were reported in several districts too on Thursday. Abdullapurmet in Rangareddy received the highest rainfall of 9.5 mm. As per IMD-H, a few districts including Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Yadadri Bhongir, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet and Jogulamba Gadwal are likely to witness heavy rains on Thursday and Friday.
