Hyderabad: Officials of Prohibition and Excise Department faced resistance from a group of people for arresting a woman Malathi Bai on charges of selling illicit-distilled (ID) liquor at her residence at Upper Dhoolpet here on Saturday.
After seizing 67 sachets of ID liquor and 6.7 litres of ID liquor from her residence, the police arrested Malathi. “While bringing her to the Dhoolpet excise station, a group led by Yogesh and his followers obstructed our officials and vehicle and tried to take her from our custody,” said N Anjireddy, Assistant Prohibition and Excise Superintendent (Enforcement) Hyderabad.
He said a complaint was lodged with the Mangalhat police requesting to take action against Yogesh and others for obstructing and using criminal force against the public servants from discharging their official duties.
