Hyderabad: A major fire broke out at a scrap warehouse located opposite Jyothi Milk Center in Suraram Police on Tuesday night, triggering panic in the area.
No casualties were reported in the incident.
Thick flames and smoke were seen billowing from the premises, leading to a sense of panic in the residents of the nearby colony and other shop keepers.
On receiving information, fire department personnel and police officials rushed to the spot and brought the raging fire under control, the efforts which continued till Wednesday early morning.
Officials said the intensity of the fire increased due to the presence of drums reportedly containing chemicals stored inside the warehouse. Precautions were taken to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby structures.
The exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined, police said.
