Hyderabad: Man arrested for cheating women in name of marriage

Hyderabad: The Jubilee Hills police on Friday booked a man for allegedly cheating a woman in the name of marriage.

The suspect, identified as Prasad (23), a resident of Jawaharnagar, and the 24-year-old woman who works with a private hospital in Jubilee Hills, became friends on Share Chat, a popular social networking site.

Police sources said, the woman, who is already married with a son, started meeting the suspect and eventually developed intimacy and they secretly married in a temple. They then lived in a rented house in Jawaharnagar for about six months. In December, the woman requested Prasad to get their marriage registered as they had no legal proof. However, he kept postponing it citing various reasons and started avoiding her.

In January, he left to his native place in Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh on the pretext of celebrating Sankranti festival. However, he did not return and his mobile too was switched off.

The woman, who realized she was cheated approached the police and lodged a complaint. The Jubilee Hills police are investigating.
