Hyderabad: Man arrested for sexual assault attempt at birthday party

A 24-year-old man from Balanagar was arrested for allegedly attempting to rape a woman he befriended on Instagram. The incident occurred during his birthday party. The woman escaped and reported the assault to the police, leading to his arrest

Hyderabad: A man was arrested for allegedly misbehaving with and attempting to rape a young woman at his birthday party in Balanagar on Thursday.

The arrested person, J Sidda Reddy (24), a native of Nalgonda currently residing in Balanagar, had become friends with the 25-year-old woman from Manikonda on Instagram. They had been in touch since then and had met in person on a few occasions.

Police said that Sidda Reddy invited the woman to his house for his birthday celebrations on Wednesday night. In the absence of his family members, he allegedly made sexual advances and attempted to rape her.

The woman managed to escape and approached the Balanagar police to lodge a complaint. A case was booked, and Sidda Reddy was arrested.
