Hyderabad: A man who tried to immolate himself near Pragathi Bhavan here on Monday was stopped and rescued just in time by the security personnel at the spot.

The man, B Laxman Mudiraj (38) from Old Bowenpally, came to the spot with a bottle of diesel in an auto-rickshaw. Punjagutta police said Laxman started walking towards Pragathi Bhavan with the bottle in his hand. He suddenly emptied the fuel on himself and tried to set himself ablaze. The security personnel present at the spot rushed to his rescue and stopped him.

He was taken into custody and on enquiry he revealed he was depressed and wanted a job.
