Hyderabad: Man booked for rape, cheating after promising marriage to woman he met on Instagram
A woman from Suryapet has accused a man she met on Instagram of rape and cheating after he allegedly exploited her sexually under the pretext of marriage. The Madhuranagar police have booked a case and are searching for the accused.
Hyderabad: A woman approached the Madhuranagar police alleging she was cheated and raped by a man who had promised to marry her.
According to the police, the 26-year-old woman from Suryapet district who came to the city in search of a job, became friends with the suspect Sridhar Kumar (27), a resident of Yousufguda, on Instagram.
Subsequently, he proposed to her to which she accepted. Since then, they have met on several occasions. He sexually exploited her several times after promising to marry her, she alleged.
Recently when she asked him to marry her, he started avoiding and refused to marry her. Sridhar further threatened to make their private photos and videos public if she shared about the matter to anyone.
Based on the woman’s complaint on Thursday, the Madhuranagar police have booked case of rape and cheating and efforts are on to nab the suspect.
