Hyderabad: A 57-year-old man from Bowenpally was cheated by cyber fraudsters to the tune of Rs. 3.61 lakh on the pretext of antique coins trade.

According to the police, the victim came across a Facebook page advertisement of ‘Indian Coin Company’, engaged in the business of dealing with antique coins. The conmen lured the man, promising Rs. 95 lakh in exchange for the antique coins that he owned.

“The fraudsters first collected the photographs of the coins from a man. Later, they told them that the deal is fixed and asked him to pay money towards GST, flight tickets, hotel, police bribes, delivery charges, etc. The fraudsters collected an amount of Rs. 3.61 lakh and duped him,” said Cyber crime police.

The man realized that he had been cheated and approached the police, who registered a case. An investigation is going on.
