Hyderabad man donates blood for 84th time; encourages son

Hyderabad: While the father created yet another record of sorts by donating his blood for the 84th time, in the process he also initiated his 18-year-old son into the noble cause.
Hyderabad-based Prabhakar Aedunoothala, who has been donating blood four times every year, for the past two-decades, to spread awareness about the importance of blood donation, added yet another individual to the movement of voluntarily donating blood.
Prabhakar, a recipient of numerous awards for blood donation promotion, believes that parents must encourage their children to donate blood safely.
“We were waiting for our son to turn 18 so that he also starts donating blood and saving lives. A day before the Republic Day, we both donated blood at Indian Red Cross Society blood bank, Vidyanagar. Now onwards Abhiram, like me, can donate blood for the noble cause after every 90-days,” Prabhakar said.
Prabhakar, in addition to donating blood and encouraging his family members, colleagues, and friends to donate blood, also has raised a staggering 24,000 units of blood or patients in need. “All individuals must strive to donate blood at least once in their lives,” he says.
