Hyderabad man duped of Rs 1.95 lakh via fake PM Kisan APK
A Yousufguda resident lost Rs. 1.95 lakh after downloading a fake ‘PM Kisan’ app from a WhatsApp message. The malicious APK file compromised his phone and banking information. Hyderabad Cybercrime police have registered a case and launched an investigation
Hyderabad: A 30-year-old man from the city became the latest victim of cyber fraud after losing Rs. 1.95 lakh to a malicious APK file disguised as an app for the ‘PM Kisan’ scheme.
The incident occurred in the last week of July when the complainant, a resident of Yousufguda, unknowingly downloaded the fraudulent application after receiving a WhatsApp message from an unknown number containing an APK file named ‘PM Kisan’.
Upon clicking the link and downloading the app, his phone began to malfunction, exhibiting issues like overheating and repeated shutdowns.
Shortly after, a total of Rs. 1.95 lakh was debited from his bank account. His mobile phone was also hacked by the fraudsters, who sent suspicious messages to his contacts.
Realising he had been cheated, the victim approached the Hyderabad Cybercrime police, who registered a case and took up investigation.
