Hyderabad: A local court on Tuesday sentenced a man to 20 years of rigourous imprisonment for kidnapping and raping a minor girl in Kandukur in 2015. The court imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on him.
According to the police, in June 2015, the convicted person G Gangadhar (20), a resident of Bourampet village of Quthbullapur who worked at a poultry farm, convinced the 14-year-old girl and compelled her to marry him. Accordingly, he took her to his native place at Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh, where he confined her in a room and raped her several times. During this, her family members approached the Kandukur police and filed a complaint, following which a case was booked.
After learning that a case was registered against him, Gangadhar abandoned the girl at Kandukur and went absconding. The case was altered to kidnap and rape and he was later arrested.
