Hyderabad: A local court in LB Nagar on Friday sentenced a man to life imprisonment in the kidnap and rape case of a minor girl reported in Vanasthalipuram in 2015. The court also imposed fine of Rs 20,000 on him.
The convicted person is Anjaneyulu (25), a resident of Vanasthalipuram and a native of Mahabubnagar district.
In September 2015, Anjaneyulu, who was already married, promised to marry the 15-year-old victim and raped her several times resulting in her pregnancy. He further threatened to kill her if she revealed it to anyone. Anjaneyulu, also tried to abort the child, but failed as the hospital authorities refused.
Following a complaint from the girl’s mother, the Vanasthalipuram police booked a case and subsequently arrested Anjaneyulu. Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat appreciated the efforts of the investigation officer and team in securing conviction in the case.
