Hyderabad: The Jawaharnagar police arrested a construction worker, Aiyaz Khan, 30 on charges of growing marijuana plants in his backyard at Malkaram on Thursday and seized about four kilograms of marijuana.
Police said the suspect had decided to become self-sufficient for his marijuana needs and had been nurturing them for self-consumption and distribution in his friends circle. Khan, who was staying in a rented house, was allegedly addicted to marijuana and for the last several months, was secretly growing the marijuana plants in his backyard.
The plants, which had grown nearly seven feet, were providing him his regular diet of marijuana, police said, adding that following tip-off, a raid was conducted in the presence of Revenue officials.
