Hyderabad: A local court in Secunderabad on Friday sentenced a man to five years of rigourous imprisonment for abetting a woman to commit suicide in a case at Trimulgherry in 2014. The court also imposed a fine of Rs.20,000 on him.
The convicted person was G.Geetha Krishna (30), from Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh. Geeta Krishna and the victim, Bhagya Sri Reddy from Lothkunta, were in love for over a year and had planned to get married. However, in June 2014, when she asked Geeta Krishna about their marriage, he refused and started avoiding her. Bhagya Sri Reddy ended her life by hanging from the ceiling fan in her room.
Based on the complaint from her father, the Trimulgherry police booked a case and arrested Geetha Krishna.
