Hyderabad: A man was stabbed to death by his relative allegedly over a trivial matter in full public view on the main road in Medchal Town on Monday.

Police suspect a previous enmity led murder. The victim was identified as K Motilal (45), a construction worker and a resident of Saraswathi Nagar in Medchal.


According to the police, on Sunday night, Motilal’s cousin and the suspect Shankar (35) had come to the former’s house in a drunken condition. When Motilal reprimanded, Shankar went and slept at the railway tracks nearby.

Upset over it, Motilal scolded Shankar and dropped him back at the latter’s house. It was during this, the duo had a heated argument.

On Monday, around 8 am, Shankar, who was angry with Motilal, went to his house and started an argument. When Motilal started walking away, Shankar grabbed a knife that he brought along with him and indiscriminately stabbed Motilal at various parts of the body.

Motilal suffered grievous bleeding injuries and collapsed. Those who noticed the incident immediately rushed to his rescue and shifted him to a nearby hospital, where the doctors declared him dead.

The Medchal police have taken up the investigation, while senior police officials also visited the spot. The body was meanwhile shifted to the Gandhi Hospital morgue for autopsy.
