Hyderabad: A man was stabbed by his brother allegedly after an argument over stealing a mobile phone at Barkas in Chandrayangutta late on Wednesday.

Syed Javed and his younger brother Syed Asif, both workers at a function hall at Omar Gulshan function hall in Chandrayangutta, are residents of Mumtaz Bagh.

Police said one Moosa Syed, an auto-rickshaw driver from Mumtaz Bagh is Asif’s close friend and he often came to work at function hall too. Recently, Moosa’s mobile phone went missing when he came to the function hall to meet Asif and Javed.

Asif suspected his brother Javeed of stealing his friend’s mobile phone and started picking up arguments asking him to return it. Even on Wednesday night, the duo argued over the same issue, following which, Asif stabbed Javed with a knife and fled from the spot.

On receiving information, the Chandrayangutta police reached the spot and shifted Javed to the Osmania General Hospital. His condition is said to be stable.

A case of attempt to murder was booked and being investigated. Efforts are on to nab Asif.
