Hyderabad: Married woman dies by suicide over harassment from husband, in-laws

Hyderabad: Allegedly upset over harassment from her husband and in-laws, a woman died by suicide at her house in KPHB Colony on Wednesday.

K Deepika (28), was married to Venu Gopal, a private employee and the couple has a 13-months-old son.


According to the police, at the time of the wedding, Deepika’s family had given dowry worth several lakhs which included cash and jewelry.

However, her husband continued to harass her both physically and mentally for additional dowry. When she refused, the harassment increased.

Upset over these developments, Deepika hanged herself from a ceiling fan in the bedroom. She was found dead by her brother, who informed the police and family members.

The KPHB police are investigating.
