Hyderabad: The Mangalhat police, along with GHMC officials, have busted a cheating racket involving the sale of unhygienic and long-stored meat and arrested one person in connection with it on Tuesday.
The arrested person, identified as Mohd Afroz, who runs a meat shop at RK Pet, allegedly stored goat and sheep offal for long periods in deep freezers and plastic tubs filled with stagnant water and later sold them to customers by falsely claiming the meat was fresh and hygienic.
During the raid, officials found about 300 kgs of decomposed goat and sheep offal stored in highly unhygienic conditions.
Afroz had previously been penalised by GHMC for a similar offence.
The Mangalhat police are investigating. They requested citizens not to buy meat or food items from unauthorised or unhygienic outlets and to report such activities to authorities concerned.
