Hyderabad: Mild panic in Abdullapurmet as 12-feet crocodile appears near canal

A 12-feet, 120 kg crocodile was spotted near a canal in Taramatipet village, Abdullapurmet, causing panic among locals. Forest officials and police caught the reptile after an hour and a half and shifted it to the Nehru Zoological Park

Hyderabad: Mild tension prevailed among locals after a crocodile was spotted at Abdullapurmet in the suburbs on Friday.

As per available information, the reptile, said to be 12 feet long and weighing 120 kg, was spotted near a canal connecting to the Musi River in Taramatipet village of Abdullapurmet.


The local villagers who saw it amidst bushes and thick vegetation panicked and informed the forest department.

On receiving the information, forest department officials and police reached the spot and, after an hour and a half of effort, caught the crocodile and shifted it to the Nehru Zoological Park.
