Hyderabad: For a peaceful Ganesh idol immersion, all necessary arrangements have been taken up by different departments in the city, Animal Husbandry Minister T Srinivas Yadav said.

The Minister along with Mayor G Vijayalaxmi, GHMC Commissioner Lokesh Kumar, Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar and other officials from associated departments, on Friday inspected the arrangements being put in place for the idol immersion at Tank Bund and NTR Marg. He also held a meeting to review the arrangements with officials at the Control Room set up at Tank Bund.

As per the directions of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, all the arrangements were being made for a grand Shobha Yatra in the city and idol immersion in water bodies, the Minister said. “The Shobha Yatra in Hyderabad has an identity of itself in the country and devotees in lakhs participate in the procession,” he said.

The idol immersion procession would wind its way through different parts of the city and instructions were issued to officials to ensure that there were no hindrances. “Apart from carrying out repairs to roads where required, officials have been directed to remove tree branches apart from attending to power cables that could hinder movement of the idols,” Srinivas Yadav said.

The police with 19,000 personnel drafted from various cadres will be deployed for the peaceful and orderly progress of the procession and idol immersion. “Apart from one police official positioned at every crane used to immerse the idols, one official will be deputed for every idol in the procession,” he said. The Traffic Police was also working on identifying the points along the procession where barricading was to be taken up.
