Hyderabad: A traffic police constable suffered grievous injuries after a motorcycle hit him during the Ganesh idol immersion procession at Maitrivanam in Ameerpet here on Sunday.

The constable, Suresh Kulkarni, was posted on bandobast duty at the junction in the evening and was hit by the bike resulting in a head injury. The bike rider fled the spot.

Suresh was first shifted to a nearby hospital in Ameerpet and later to Apollo Hospital in Jubilee Hills. His condition is said to be critical. The SR Nagar police are investigating. Efforts are on to identify the rider.
