Hyderabad: Green India Challenge (GIC) has taken up the task of 1 lakh saplings plantation at New Delhi to ease out the pollution of Delhi in future. The initiative was taken up in collaboration with Delhi Municipal Corporation.

Members of Parliament from different parties and States participated in this novel initiative as part of which plantation was taken up at vacant land of a park and planted saplings at Narain Industrial Area in Karol Bagh Zone in North Delhi Municipal Corporation jurisdiction, according to a press release.


Rajya Sabha Member, J Santosh Kumar said the Green India Challenge programme, which was launched four years ago, is giving good results as many people from all walks of life are voluntarily coming forward to take up the challenge. “The programme is being organised in both the Telugu States and efforts are being made with an aim to extend it throughout the country,” he said.

YSRCP Parliamentary Party chief Vijay Sai Reddy said the young MP has taken up an ideal programme and congratulated Santosh Kumar for the same.

Rajya Sabha MP Jairam Ramesh congratulated the Green India Challenge for working towards increasing the green cover and reducing the challenges thrown by the pollution. Sanjay Singh, AAP MP, said this kind of initiative is very much needed in area like Delhi. Anil Desai, MP, Shiva Sena, said Green initiative is the need of the hour across country.

Ramky came forward to join the Green India Challenge programme in Delhi and its chairman, MP RS Ayodhyarami Reddy came forward to adopt a park on behalf of his organisation as a social responsibility.

Members of Parliament from both the houses along with J Santosh Kumar participated in the event. They also included Binoy Visvam (CPI), Mopidevi Venkataramana, Magunta Srinivas Reddy, Gorentla Madhav, Vanga Geeta, Mithun Reddy, Krishna Devarayulu, YS Avinash Reddy, Gorentla Madhav, K Keshav Rao, Nama Nageswara Rao, G Ranjit Reddy, M Srinivas Reddy, Maloth Kavita, Venkatesh Netha, B Lingaiah Yadav, KR Suresh Reddy, P Dayakar, P Ramulu and others. Singareni Collieries Companies Director (Finance) Balaram and others were also present.
