Hyderabad: A woman who allegedly brutally murdered a woman labourer nearly a week ago at KPHB was arrested by the Kukatpally police on Sunday. The police seized silver anklets, laser blade and a two-wheeler from the suspect.
According to the police, the suspect Katari Manjula (35), a resident of Yellamabanda, Jagadgirigutta was known to the victim Dharmaram Priyanka (23), a resident of KPHB colony and native of Bodhan of Nizamabad.
Priyanka gave silver anklets and a chain to Manjula asking her to keep it in her custody. “After collecting the ornaments, Manjula did not return it to Priyanka leading to issues between them. Priyanka then called some of her male friends and threatened Manjula, who then agreed to return it,” said DCP Balanagar, K Suresh Kumar.
On September 30, on pretext of giving the ornaments, Manjula took Priyanka along with her to the house and handed over the ornaments.
“Manjula felt insulted over the developments and planned to eliminate her. She took Manjula on her Scooty to an isolated place at KPHB colony where both of them consumed liquor. Later, Manjula using a blade slit the throat of the Priyanka and then inflicted bleeding wounds on her private parts. The woman died on the spot,” said the official.
The police who found the body on October 2, registered a case and started investigation. Based on the clues gathered with the help of footage of surveillance cameras and call details record, the police took into custody Manjula, who on interrogation admitted to the killing.
