Hyderabad: Mystery shrouds the death of a mobile phone technician, whose body was found in an apartment building in Shivrampally near Rajendranagar on Wednesday night.
The police also found an unconscious woman, believed to be the man’s girlfriend, and another person in the same flat.
The mysterious death gave rise to suspicions that the trio had taken an overdose of narcotic drugs, as they were believed to have gotten some from a friend in Red Hills locality in Hyderabad.
The woman has been rushed to a hospital where she is stated to be battling for her life.
According to the police, the dead man, identified as Ahmed Ali (28) of Kalapather, was living with a woman in the flat in Shivrampally. On Wednesday night, the police received information that Ahmed and the woman were found unconscious in the flat, while another person, Sayeed, a resident of Attapur, was ill but conscious.
When the police reached the apartment, they found that Ahmed had died, while the woman, who is identified as a resident of Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, was in an unconscious state.
“We shifted the body of the man to mortuary. Sayeed and the woman were checked later and tested positive for consumption,” Rajendarnagar Inspector K Kastro said, adding that the husband of the woman had gone to Kolkata on some work.
Police shifted the body of the man to Osmania Hospital mortuary. A case is registered. The police learnt that the man, along with others, had bought some drugs from a person at Red Hills and they had consumed them. “After we receive the post-mortem report, we will know which drug Ahmed had consumed,” said the Inspector.
