Hyderabad: Nearly 60 kg of rotten meat seized at Kacheguda slaughterhouse
The Hyderabad H-Fast team and Task Force officials seized nearly 60 kg of rotten meat during a surprise inspection at the Kacheguda slaughterhouse. Police booked the godown owner for violating food safety norms and destroyed the seized meat to prevent consumption.
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad H-Fast team, along with Task Force (Secunderabad) officials, seized 60 kg of rotten meat during a surprise inspection at the Kacheguda slaughterhouse on Friday.
The raid was conducted following a tip-off that stale meat was being illegally stored and sold from a godown on the premises. Acting on the information, Task Force SI Mahesh and Constable Vinay visited the spot and carried out inspections.
During the operation, officials found 60 kg of rotten meat kept ready for sale and seized it. To prevent its consumption, the meat was destroyed by pouring phenyl over it.
Police registered a case against the godown owner, identified as Akhil, for storing rotten meat in violation of food safety norms and issued a challan.
Officials warned that strict action would continue against those selling food items that pose a risk to public health.
