Hyderabad: A woman was allegedly raped by her neighbour in Rein Bazaar in the old city on Thursday, with the suspect being arrested here on Friday.

According to police, when the 27-year-old woman was in her house on Thursday, Ahmed Khan (30) allegedly gagged her with a piece of cloth, overpowered and raped her. After the ordeal, when she tried to escape and raised an alarm, he threatened her with dire consequences.

The victim, however, informed her family members and approached the police, who booked a case of rape and threatening against Khan. He was produced before court and remanded in judicial custody.
