Hyderabad: Nepalese man arrested for murder at Huppuguda Railway Station
Government Railway Police and Railway Protection Force officials arrested a 47-year-old Nepalese national for allegedly murdering an unidentified man at Huppuguda Railway Station. Police said the accused attacked the victim with stones after suspecting him of stealing his bag.
Hyderabad: A 47-year-old Nepalese national was arrested by Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) officials on Friday in connection with the murder of an unidentified man at Huppuguda Railway Station earlier this week.
The suspect, identified as Raj Kumar Sharma, a native of Kathmandu, Nepal, had been working as a daily wage worker at fast-food outlets in the city and was living on pavements.
According to the GRP, Sharma, who was allegedly addicted to alcohol and drugs, attacked the victim on Platform No. 1 at Huppuguda Railway Station on August 2 after suspecting him of stealing his bag while he was intoxicated.
Officials said Sharma had consumed liquor with a friend before the incident. After his friend left, the victim allegedly took Sharma’s bag. Later, Sharma spotted the man near the railway footbridge, confronted him and, during a quarrel, allegedly struck him repeatedly with stones, leading to his death.
Sharma was traced and arrested at Sitaphalmandi Railway Station.
