Hyderabad: A newborn baby girl was found abandoned at a secluded place at Moosapet in Kukatpally here on Friday. Police suspect the infant was dumped by her parents.

The local residents, who heard her crying, rushed to her rescue and also alerted the police. The mobile patrol vehicle of the Kukatpally police reached the spot near the petrol pump at Moosapet and shifted the child to the police station, where she was given a bath and new clothes. After getting her checkup done, the baby girl was handed over to Shishu Vihar officials in Ameerpet. There were no visible injuries and her health condition too was stable, police said.

The Kukatpally police have booked a case and are investigating. Efforts are on to identify the baby’s parents with the help of footage from surveillance cameras in the surroundings, they said.
