Hyderabad: A newborn baby girl was found abandoned at a temporary shed on the roadside in Rein Bazaar here on Saturday afternoon. Police suspect her parents abandoned her soon after birth.
According to the police, the local residents, who heard the baby crying, checked the shed and found her wrapped in a cloth around noon. They immediately alerted the police, who reached the spot immediately and shifted her to a nearby private hospital, from where she was later shifted to Niloufer Hospital for better treatment. Doctors said the baby had no injuries and that her health condition was good.
The Rein Bazaar police booked a case for concealing the birth of a child and started investigating. They are checking nearby hospitals and nursing homes for recent birth cases. The footage from the surveillance cameras at the spot and nearby routes are being examined to identify her parents.
A child can be legally and anonymously relinquished at a specialised adoption agency. To find the nearest specialised adoption agency, call ChildLine at 1098 or go to http://cara.nic.in/Stakeholders/india_map.html and select any state.
