Seizes various incriminating material and digital devices
Hyderabad: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has conducted searches at the residence of two arrested Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists Mohammed Nasir Khan and Imran Malik in New Mallepally under the Habeebnagar police station limits. Nasir and his brother Imran were arrested by the NIA on Wednesday in connection with low-intensity parcel bomb blast that took place at Darbhanga railway police on June 17.
The searches led to the recovery and seizures of various incriminating material and multiple digital devices. The items recovered from the premises of the accused contained various documents pertaining to procedure for fabrication of improvised explosive device (IED) and materials used for making it, a spokesperson of NIA said in a press release.
Following directions from the Pakistan-based handlers of LeT, the two siblings fabricated an incendiary IED and packed it in a parcel of cloth and put it in Secunderabad-Darbhanga Express. This was aimed at causing an explosion and fire in a running passenger train resulting in huge loss of lives and property.
The case was originally registered at Darbhanga railway police on June 17 in connection with an explosion in a parcel on platform one on the station premises. The NIA had re-registered the case on June 24 and took the probe. It arrested Nasir and Imran on Wednesday. Further investigation is on.
