Hyderabad: Investigation in the alleged sexual assault case of a young woman in a moving MMTS train, reported last month, is still under progress. However, no arrests have been made yet.
As per available information, the investigation officials are also checking the facts in the victim’s statement and corroborating it with physical and technical evidence.
The Government Railway Police (GRP) along with the Railway Police Force (RPF) who jointly took up investigation had examined the footage from nearly 250 surveillance cameras from the crime spot up to Medchal and beyond. They detained about 100 suspects and questioned them. However, nothing concrete was obtained.
On Friday, there were certain reports claiming that the woman had allegedly slipped and fallen off the moving train while attempting to record a reel on Instagram and got injured. Fearing consequences, she cooked up a story and staged a drama claiming she had jumped from a moving train in an attempt to escape sexual assault from a man.
However, the police termed it false and maintained that the investigation was under progress. The investigation officials are probing the incident with multiple teams.
