Hyderabad: The Malkajgiri Police Special Operations Team along with the Ghatkesar police busted a drug racket operating from East Godavari of Andhra Pradesh to Mumbai via Hyderabad and arrested one person at Jodimetla on Monday. Police seized 102 kg of marijuana and an auto trolley, altogether worth Rs.20.5 lakh.
The arrested person was B.Ravi (29), from Bhadradri-Kothagudem. Four suspects, Suresh from East Godavari of Andhra Pradesh, Bhanu Das, Ramesh and Shahin, were absconding.
According to the police, Ravi, a graduate could not secure a suitable job and took up cattle business and during one of his visits to East Godavari district, met Suresh, who offered help in transporting marijuana.
“Suresh handed over vehicles loaded with marijuana to Ravi and directed him to deliver it to customers across Telangana and Karnataka. He paid Rs.20,000 and more based on the distance travelled,” Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat said, adding that on Sunday, he handed over the trolley with 102 kg of marijuana and instructed it to be delivered it to Bhanu Das, Ramesh and Shahin at Zaheerabad.
While passing Jodimetla X Roads, the Malkajgiri SOT intercepted the vehicle and nabbed Ravi, who along with the seized drug, was handed over to the Ghatkesar police.
