Hyderabad: More than 150 people above 60 years of age and with pre-existing comorbidities have received the Covid-19 booster dose at their houses after the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) launched the administration of vaccines at the doorsteps of beneficiaries on January 31. The civic body has appealed to people to dial 040-21111111 to avail of the free service.
Since then, 580 requests have come in, GHMC officials said, adding that they were collecting details from callers, segregating zone wise and forwarding the data to mobile vaccination teams. Based on this data, the mobile vaccination teams are preparing a route map and administering the vaccines.
The vaccination at the doorstep concept was taken up following instructions from Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao and Health Minister T Harish Rao.
As part of the exercise, spot registration of beneficiaries is being done. People do not have to register on the CoWIN App and have to only produce the Aadhaar card for identity proof.
Officials said they were asking people to call the same GHMC helpline number for information pertaining to Covid.
Covid containment measures including house-to-house fever surveys are also underway in the GHMC limits, as part of which details of people with fever are being collected and home isolation kits are being given wherever needed.
