Hyderabad: The Hayathnagar police arrested a painter, Prem Chand Kushwaha alias Chote (25) on charges of damaging the idol of a deity in a temple on Friday.
The man, a resident of Lalapet, on Thursday evening had gone to BN Reddy Nagar in Vanasthalipuram and while returning found that he did not have money to reach home.
“Prem Chand took shelter at the Anjaneya Swamy Temple at Hayathnagar and in the night vandalized the Navagraha idols in the premises out of frustration,” said Sunpreet Singh, DCP (LB Nagar).
On Friday morning after he left the premises, some persons noticed the idols broken and informed the police about it. On Saturday, the police identified Prem Chand and caught him. On interrogation, he admitted to damaging the idols. He was arrested and produced before court.
