Hyderabad: Prominent painter and writer Chandra passed away on Wednesday night after battling with coronavirus here in the city. He was 74.

Chandra, who had been suffering from health issues for the past three years, breathed his last while undergoing treatment at Mother Theresa Rehabilitation Centre near Secunderabad.

Chandra’s mortal remains were shifted to his house at Srinagar Colony on Thursday morning.

City artistes and writers recalled his contribution to both the fields and expressed condolences to the bereaved family.

He has been an inspiration to many artistes of our generations, says artist Srinivas Nayak. “Many artists and painters would follow his illustrations for reference even now. Elements like line drawing, stroke styles and the detailing he gives is so masterclass, he will remain an inspiring figure in the field,” he added.
