Hyderabad: The Malkajgiri Police Special Operations Team along with the Jawaharnagar police arrested two persons on charges of illegal selling banned Oxytocin injections and seized 223 vials of the injection worth Rs.1 lakh from them on Tuesday.
The arrested persons were B.Satya Narayana (48) from Kapra in Kushaiguda and T.Raju Yadav (59), from Yapral in Jawaharnagar, both animal fodder vendors. The absconding suspect was Nazar from Chandrayangutta.
According to the police, the two had met Nasar, who supplied Oxytocin injections illegally. They bought each vial of Oxytocin for Rs.300 from Nazar and sold it to customers for Rs.500 per vial.
Oxytocin helps enhance milk production in cattle, but has severely harmful effects not just on the health of animals, but also on humans who consume the milk.
The arrested persons were handed over to the Jawaharnagar police for further action.
