Hyderabad police book 107 cases during special drive against trade of Chinese manja

Additional DCP (Task Force), A Srinivas Rao, said a special drive was taken following advisory from different government department about the threat of the Chinese manja to humans, animals and birds.

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad police booked 107 cases against 148 persons during a special drive conducted against the trade of Chinese made manja in the city. The police seized 7334 bobbins of the manja worth Rs. 88 lakh.

Additional DCP (Task Force), A Srinivas Rao, said a special drive was taken following advisory from different government department about the threat of the Chinese manja to humans, animals and birds.


“The manja is coated with powdered glass or metal and poses significant risks to public safety, wildlife and the environment,” said the official.
