Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar urges citizens to stay alert amid heavy rain forecast
Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar has urged residents to remain vigilant as heavy rainfall is forecast over the next 48 hours. Citizens have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel, follow IMD advisories, drive carefully, and contact Dial 100 for emergencies.
Hyderabad: City Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar on Thursday appealed to citizens to remain alert in view of the forecast of heavy rainfall over the next two days and advised them to avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rains. He urged people to closely follow weather updates and advisories issued by the Meteorological Department and plan their daily travel in advance, taking into account forecasts.
Sajjanar inspected traffic movement and road conditions at Punjagutta and Khairatabad junctions and reviewed the situation on the ground. He said the city police were working in close coordination with the GHMC and other government departments to minimise inconvenience to the public during the monsoon. Traffic personnel have been deployed at vulnerable locations and will remain available in the field to prevent congestion and respond to emergencies.
The Commissioner advised citizens to stay away from open manholes, fallen electricity wires and electric poles during rainfall. Motorists were also asked to drive cautiously and reduce speed near waterlogged stretches, low-lying areas and flyovers.
With the weather department predicting heavy rainfall over the next 48 hours, he requested people to avoid venturing out unless necessary while it is raining. In case of emergencies or for traffic-related assistance, citizens were advised to dial 100.
