Hyderabad: In a tragic incident, a police constable working at the Mailardevpally police station, who was critically injured after his car was hit by a rashly driven truck on Monday night at Kadthal, died in hospital on Tuesday morning.
The cop, Raghava Reddy (54), a 1993 batch Police Constable from Cherlapally, was posted at the Mailardevpally police station since the last two years.
A native of Veldanda mandal in Nagarkurnool, Reddy had gone to his native place on Sunday in his car and was returning home on Monday night when the incident occurred. According to the police, when he reached near Kadthal, a loaded tractor, which was coming in the wrong route, crashed into the car.
“He suffered grievous bleeding injuries on his head and chest and fell unconscious,” an official said, adding that other motorists had alerted the police, who shifted him to a private hospital, where he died under treatment on Tuesday morning.
The Kadthal police have booked a case for negligence causing death and are investigating.
