Hyderabad Police crack Sahasra murder case, detain minor

Hyderabad: The police have cracked the brutal murder of 12-year-old Sahasra, whose body was found with multiple stab wounds at her residence in Sangeet Nagar, Kukatpally, earlier this week. A minor boy from the same neighbourhood has been taken into custody in connection with the case.

According to sources, the boy, a Grade X student living in a building adjacent to the victim’s house, reportedly confessed to killing Sahasra after she allegedly witnessed him attempting to commit theft at her home. Investigators said the boy had planned the theft in advance and even recorded the details in a notebook, which was recovered by police.

The incident occurred on the morning of August 18, when Sahasra was alone at home while her parents went to work. Her father works at a local mechanic shed, and her mother is a lab technician at a private hospital. Sahasra, a Grade XI student, had stayed home that day due to a school holiday declared for upcoming sports events.

Around noon, school staff contacted her parents to inform them that her younger brother had not received his lunch box. Alarmed, her father rushed home and found the house locked from the outside. Upon entering, he discovered Sahasra lying dead in a pool of blood on the bed with multiple stab wounds.

A preliminary autopsy revealed several stab injuries, including at least 10 deep wounds on her neck. The estimated time of death was between 9:30 am and 10:30 am, when neighbours reported hearing the girl scream.

After five days of investigation, during which several local residents and suspects were questioned, the minor boy was taken into custody. Police have not formally announced his arrest, citing the sensitive nature of the case and the suspect’s age. Details of the case and the formal arrest are expected to be released soon.
